Deftones ready for "Koi No Yokan" release with fall dates
Following a couple California festival appearances, the Deftones will embark on a headlining run ahead of their forthcoming fall album, "Koi No Yokan."
The Grammy-winning alt-rockers will kick off the official tour with an Oct. 9 performance in Ventura, CA, and work their way from the West Coast to the East by that month's end. The 16-city trek currently wraps up Oct. 30 in New York City. More stops will be added in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
Ticket sales for the first round of U.S. shows, which will feature opening support from Scars on Broadway, begin Sept. 7 via Ticketmaster.
The Deftones will unveil "Koi No Yokan," the group's seventh studio effort, Nov. 13 via Reprise Records. The Sacramento-based outfit recorded the album in Los Angeles with Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters), the same producer who worked on 2010's "Diamond Eyes."
"Obviously we're an aggressive band -- not the heaviest, but there's a lot of attack," frontman Chino Moreno explained in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. "But there's also this lush beauty that flows within everything that we do, and that's my favorite part of the band. To me, it's the epitome of what the Deftones do."
Chi Cheng, a bassist and founding member of the Deftones, has been in a coma since a Nov. 2008 car accident in which he was a passenger. For the trek, Cheng is currently being replaced by fill-in bassist Sergio Vega.
