Iconic rocker Prince will return to Chicago for the first time since 2004 for shows in collaboration with Rebuild the Dream.

The Minneapolis native will perform Sept. 24 at the United Center as part of the "Welcome 2 Chicago" trek, according to a press release. Though the release implies more Chicago area shows, there are no specific dates mentioned.

Pre-sale tickets become available Sept. 4 via Live Nation, while general on-sales begin Sept. 6.

The Chicago-focused run supports Rebuild the Dream, a project to mobilize everyday people to build strong communities in an effort to fix the nation's economy from the ground up.

"Our economic system is broken," the organization's co-founder and president Van Jones said in a press release. "Rebuild the Dream exists to unite arts and organize into a potent force to support the Dreams of Our Communities. There are few artists who have Prince's unwavering commitment to a vision of a sustainable, fair economic future."

Over the last 18 months, Prince has embarked on the sporadic "Welcome 2 America" tour, as well as a 10-city Canada version.

The award-winning musician most recently released "20Ten," his 34th studio set which surfaced in July 2010.
