Kaki King plots continental push behind "Glow"

Indie songstress Kaki King will set out on a North American tour this fall in support of her forthcoming album, "Glow."

Following a one-off festival appearance in late September, the Brooklyn-based musician will hit the club and theater circuit, beginning with an Oct. 15 performance in Seattle. The 32-date run stretches into early December, finishing up Dec. 6 in South Burlington, VT.

Kaki King is slated to unveil "Glow," her sixth studio effort, Oct. 9 via Velour Recordings. The Grammy-nominated musician recorded the album at producer D. James Goodwin's own Woodstock, NY, studio, The Isokon, and added bagpipes and strings to parts of the collection.

"This is a guitar record," King said in a press release. "This is the sound of a person playing guitar. Whatever additions we made, the fundamental of this record is still one person playing a guitar. That's who I am."

The new work follows her 2010 release, "Junior," which was produced by Malcolm Burns and surfaced on Rounder Records.

In 2007, King earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score for her work with Michael Brook and Eddie Vedder on the "Into the Wild" soundtrack. She also contributed to the Grammy-nominated "August Rush" soundtrack the same year.
