Aimee Mann confirms more dates on "Charmer" outing
Singer/songwriter Aimee Mann has extended her impending North American trek in support of the upcoming "Charmer."
A rash of performances spread throughout eastern North America has been tacked on to the Virginia native's tour schedule since last check. The late summer/fall outing gets underway Sept. 27 concert in San Juan Capistrano, CA, now pushes through a Nov. 17 concert in Minneapolis, MN. The itinerary now encompasses 28 major markets, including several two-night stands.
Ticketing information for the domestic trek is available via Mann's website.
"Charmer," Mann's long-awaited eighth studio effort, hits shelves Sept. 18 on Superego Records. Influenced by what Mann calls the "superpop" of the '70s and '80s, according to a press release, the forthcoming album follows her 2008 effort, "@#%&*! Smilers," which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Independent Albums chart.
"Even before I started making a record I knew I wanted Tom Scharpling to direct a video for it,
Mann stated at her website. "We talked about the song 'Charmer,' how it was about people whose charm can become like a persona that then starts to block the person's real self. I definitely wanted something light-hearted and his concept did the perfect job of skirting the line between funny and still acting a bit as a metaphor for the more serious bits that are in the song."
Fans can check out the video for the title track, featuring Laura Linney as Mann's robot double, at Mann's website.
