Santana cancels Florida gigs, holds on to Vegas residency dates
Santana's Florida fans will be disappointed to learn that the guitar virtuoso has canceled this weekend's three "Shape Shifter" performances for an undisclosed reason.
The multiple Grammy winner was slated to perform Friday and Saturday (8/24-8/25) at Seminole Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL, and Sunday (8/26) at 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa.
"It is with great regret that the upcoming performances featuring Carlos Santana and the Santana Band have been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control," Michael Vrionis, President of Universal Tone Management, said in a press release. "Universal Tone Management is working diligently to reschedule these performances. We would like to thank all of the fans in Florida for your patronage, and we look forward to bringing you the music of Carlos Santana in the very near future."
Ticketholders can return to the point of purchase for refunds.
Santana and his band still have an Aug. 31 appearance at the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival before returning to Las Vegas for his "Intimate Evening with Santana" residency at House of Blues Mandalay Bay.
In May, Santana unveiled "Shape Shifter," his 26th studio effort and first via his own label, Starfaith Records. The 11-song album is mostly instrumental, with one track featuring the vocals of Andy Vargas and Tony Lindsay.
