Elton John extends fall trek with U.S. shows, Australian gigs
Legendary piano man Elton John has tacked more shows onto his 2012 itinerary, including a handful of Las Vegas residency gigs and a late fall Australian leg.
John will first complete a couple of solo Canadian shows before trekking through the Southern U.S., beginning Sept. 11 in Jackson, MS, and pushing through a Sept. 18 performance in Wheeling, WV.
Since last check, another three weekends' worth of Las Vegas "Million Dollar Piano" dates have been added to the schedule: Oct. 10-13, Oct. 18-21 and Oct. 26-28.
John will then head Down Under for a five-date Australian run that kicks off Nov. 12 in Perth.
Last week, John's long-time bassist Bob Birch was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in his Los Angeles home is what authorities reportedly believe is suicide.
"To me Bob was family," John said in a statement posted at his website."He had been a member of my band for 20 years; we played over 1400 concerts together. He was one of the greatest musicians I have ever worked with, and in all our years on the road he never played or sang a bad note. I cannot find the words to describe this tragic death, and how much I loved him. May he rest in peace."
