Trey Anastasio gets behind "Traveler"

Phish frontman Trey Anastasio will take to the road with his own backing band for a round of dates supporting his upcoming solo effort, "Traveler."
The singer/guitarist, along with the Trey Anastasio Band, will kick off the short U.S. excursion with an Oct. 18 performance in Detroit. The fall outing tackles eight markets throughout the eastern part of the nation before wrapping up Oct. 28 in Port Chester, NY.
Presale tickets go on sale Aug. 17 through Aug. 22 via the musician's website.
Anastasio plans to release "Traveler," his ninth solo effort, Oct. 16 via his own Rubber Jungle Records. The artist co-produced the set with Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) in the producer's own Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT.
"My goal was to create an album that used the studio as an instrument," Anastasio said in a press release. "I wanted to work with Peter because he is a master at creating a sonic landscape. We were hoping for a cinematic end result."
The forthcoming effort also features special guests Kori Gardner (Mates of State), Bryan Devendorf and Matt Berninger (The National), and Icelandic percussionist Samuli Kosminen.
Before hitting the road with his own backing band in the fall, Anastasio will first complete a second summer leg with Phish. Information on that tour is available here.
