Beanie Sigel precedes prison with release of "This Time"

Before heading to federal prison to serve a two-year sentence, rapper Beanie Sigel will unveil "This Time" and perform a trio of coastal shows.
The Philadelphia native will take to the stage in New York City (8/16), Hollywood (8/30) and Oakland, CA (8/31), before he's scheduled to report to prison Sept. 12.
"This Time," Sigel's fifth solo album, will hit retailers Aug. 28 via Ruffhouse Records. The former Roc-A-Fella recorded the effort in a matter of weeks in order to get it out before serving time.
"Pressure busts pipes, but it could also make a diamond," Sigel said about creating the new album at his website. "It could either make you or break you."
The forthcoming set comes three years after "The Broad Street Bully," which debuted at No. 77 on The Billboard 200.
Earlier this month, Sigel admitted to a judge that he had failed to keep up with his federal taxes and owed more than $700,000, according to MTV.
