The Who prep for North American "Quadrophenia" trek
Legendary English rockers The Who will canvas North America for the first time in four years this winter, performing their 1973 rock opera "Quadrophenia" in its entirety, along with an array of hit songs.
The multi-platinum-selling band, helmed by founding members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, will kick off the 2012 road trip with a Nov. 1 performance in Sunrise, FL. The 36-date trek is spread over two legs, with the first one wrapping up Dec. 9 in Uncasville, CT, and the second one getting underway Jan. 28 in Anaheim, CA.
Pre-sales begin Friday (7/20), while general onsales get underway July 27.
"We plan to close the show with a few of the really well-known anthems, and maybe some last minute surprises," Townshend said in a press release. "These will be as much a surprise to me as to our audience because this is an area I tend to leave to Roger; he's very good at it."
"Quadrophenia," The Who's sixth studio effort, surfaced in 1973. Daltrey and Townshend received the Classic Album Award for the album from the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards in London last year.
A one-night only screening of "The Who: Quadrophenia-Can You See The Real Me? The Story Behind The Album" will precede the North American excursion and is slated for July 24 in select theaters throughout the U.S. and Aug. 1 for Canadian residents.
