Ben Folds Five reunite, ready for long-awaited fall release
Ben Folds Five will make a reunion run later this summer in support of "The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind," the outfit's first new material in 13 years.
The trio, comprised of singer/pianist Ben Folds, bassist Robert Sledge and drummer Darren Jessee, will begin the nearly month-long domestic leg with a Sept. 13 performance in Holyoke, MA. The U.S. itinerary features a dozen shows, including an Oct. 5 wrap-up in Buffalo, NY.
In November, the band will head to Australia for three concerts, followed by a handful of U.K. performances. More shows will be announced in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
"The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind," the alt-rock outfit's fourth studio set, will hit retailers Sept. 18 via ImaVeePee Records. The album came about thanks to funds raised through PledgeMusic. The band raised more than triple their goal with over 7000 pledges; those fans will receive an exclusive early delivery of the effort, according to a press release.
The impending album follows the band's 1999 release, "The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner," which landed at No. 3 on Billboard's Top Internet Albums chart.
