Conor Oberst plots solo gigs and Desaparecidos shows
Indie-rock singer/songwriter Conor Oberst will mix solo dates with gigs fronting his post hardcore project, Desaparecidos, this summer.
The Nebraska native will begin the solo excursion with a July 6 appearance at the Ottawa Blues Fest, followed by theater and festival gigs along the East Coast. Many of these July shows are already sold out.
Oberst will then join up with the rest of Desaparecidos for an Aug. 9 show in Minneapolis. That group will work its way across the western part of the nation through late September.
Oberst most recently unveiled "Outer South," his fifth solo album and the second to include the Mystic Valley Band. The effort his retailers in May 2009 via Merge Records.
Desaparecidos, which includes bassist Landon Hedges, drummer Matt Baum, guitarist Denver Dally and keyboardist Ian McElroy, has one full-length album, "Read Music/Speak Spanish," which surfaced in 2002.
Oberst also fronts his mainstream indie-rock outfit, Bright Eyes, which released "The People's Key," February 2011 via his own Saddle Creek Records.
