Rush's "Clockwork Angels" makes solid debut ahead of fall tour

Canadian prog-rock outfit Rush is celebrating its highest-charting career release with the just-dropped "Clockwork Angels," which the band will promote further with a road trip this fall.

The trio -- guitarist Alex Lifeson, singer/bassist/keyboardist Geddy Lee and drummer Neil Peart -- will begin the fall outing with a Sept. 7 show in Manchester, NH. The itinerary consists of 33 major market stops scattered across the continent, including a several Canadian performances.

Tickets for the tour, which wraps up Dec. 2 in Houston, TX, are available now.

Rush unleashed "Clockwork Angels," the band's 20th studio album, June 12 via Roadrunner Records. The 12-track set topped the Canadian charts and entered The Billboard 200 at No. 2, selling more than 104,000 units domestically. The new effort's chart debut matches that of their platinum-selling 1993 release, "Counterparts," which also landed at No. 2.

The trio worked with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Deftones, Foo Fighters) on the album, which comes several years after their 2007 release, "Snakes & Arrows."

Rush has an extensive discography spanning five decades, with their earliest album, the simply-titled "Rush," surfacing in 1974. The RIAA has certified that the iconic rockers for the third most consecutive gold/platinum studio albums by a rock band, topped only by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
