Bonnie Raitt fills out extensive trek behind "Slipstream"

Singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has added more stops to her impending North American journey behind her forthcoming "Slipstream," extending the road trip into the fall.
Since last check, 13 new dates have been tacked on to the lengthy outing, which gets started May 1 performance in Newkirk, OK, and pushes through an Oct. 28 concert in Nashville, TN. Concerts in Milwaukee, WI (8/22); Los Angeles, CA (9/22); Grand Prairie, TX (9/29); and Austin, TX (10/3) are among the latest additions.
Tickets for several dates are available now at Raitt's website, while others go on sale as late at April 20.
Marc Cohn will provide opening support from the tour's start through the June 3 show in Burlington, VT, after which Mavis Staples will take over. The opening act for the remaining shows will be announced in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
On the road, Raitt will be joined by her longtime touring band, which consists of James Hutchinson (bass), Ricky Fataar (drums) and George Marinelli (guitar), as well as new addition Mike Finnigan (keys).
Raitt is preparing for the April 10 release of "Slipstream," her first new effort in seven years. Mostly self-produced and featuring her usual backing band, the Redwing Records effort holds 12 renditions of classic songs by artists such as Bob Dylan, Loudon Wainwright III and Joe Henry, among others. Special guests Bill Frisell, Al Anderson, Maia Sharp and Paul Brady also make appearances on the collection.
