Red Hot Chili Peppers add shows as tour launch approaches
With a couple of weeks to go before the kickoff of their first tour since 2007, the Red Hot Chili Peppers continue to fill in some gaps in the schedule.
Newly confirmed dates include an Oct. 30 show at Target Center in Minneapolis and a Nov. 1 gig at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, which currently is the last confirmed show on the itinerary. The world tour includes stops at two major North American festivals: May 19 at Gulf Shores, AL's Hangout Music Festival and June 9 at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.
The Chili Peppers' "I'm With You" world tour opens March 29 in St. Petersburg, FL. The outing is getting underway a couple of months later than originally planned because frontman Anthony Kiedis needed extra time to recover from recent foot surgery. He's expected to make a complete recovery.
The band plans to make live recordings of the concerts available for download in MP3, FLAC and ALAC formats within days of each gig; details are available at the Chili Peppers' website.
The multi-platinum-selling artists released "I'm With You," the outfit's 10th studio album, in August. The Rick Rubin-produced set, which follows 2006's "Stadium Arcadium," debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and at the top of the magazine's Rock and Alternative Albums charts.
On April 14, the Chili Peppers will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during a ceremony to take place in Cleveland.
