Alt-rockers Garbage will spend the summer on the international tour trail in support of their long-awaited new studio effort, "Not Your Kind of People."

The Wisconsin-born band, helmed by singer Shirley Manson and featuring keyboardist Steve Marker, guitarist Duke Erickson and drummer Butch Vig, will kick off the run with a two-night stand April 9-10 in Los Angeles. The outing hovers around the West Coast for several dates before moving east, with club and theater stops planned through an April 27 show in Salt Lake City, UT.

A two-month European run follows, kicking off May 9 in London, though the band will return to North America for a run of late May shows in the Northeast.

Ticket information for the spring tour are available now via the band's website.

Garbage will release their first album in seven years, "Not Your Kind of People," May 15 via their own Stunvolume Records. The effort, which follows their 2005 release, "Bleed Like Me," includes the lead single, "Blood For Poppies."

"The song is meant to feel sort of like an abstract dream," Manson explains about the single on the group's website. "The inspiration came from a story I had read in The Los Angeles Times about the opium trade and also from watching the documentary 'Restrepo.' It's not literal in any sense whatsoever but it's a song about disorientation and delusion and the human struggle to stay sane in the face of insanity."

The official video for "Blood For Poppies" is currently streaming at the performers' website.
