Arcade Fire to answer fans' Tweets ahead of YouTube concert
Arcade Fire fans will be able to Tweet questions to the band prior to their Madison Square Garden concert that will be streamed live on YouTube on Aug. 5. Terry Gilliam ("12 Monkeys," "Brazil") will direct the feed that viewers see.
Arcade Fire has also asked fans to submit photos of their suburbs for possible use onstage during the band's performance of one song off their new album, "The Suburbs."
More information is available at the Arcade Fire's VEVO channel on YouTube.
The concert is the first of five live streams in American Express' partnership with the music video and entertainment service VEVO and YouTube. Titled "Unstaged: An Original Series from American Express," the video presentations will bring together musical artists, landmark venues, contemporary filmmakers and social media.
The second concert will feature John Legend and the Roots.
Gilliam, long associated with Monty Python, offered a statement. "As a band, Arcade Fire is utterly unique. I've been a prisoner of their music from the first moment it invaded my head, The extraordinary energy of their live shows has managed to capture my body as well. Helping them spread their addictive magic across the web is going to be fun."
In addition to the Twitter Q&A, viewers will be able to select switch between the main director's stream and a second camera. More information is available at the Arcade Fire's VEVO channel on YouTube, where the concert will be screened.
Arcade fire will hit the U.S. tour trail this summer for the first time in three years. Details are at right.
