Go-Go's are "Ladies Gone Wild" this summer
Female new wave rockers the Go-Go's will commemorate the 30th anniversary of their double-platinum debut album, "Beauty and the Beat," with a summer excursion across North America.
The quintet -- Belinda Carlisle (vocals), Charlotte Caffey (guitar), Gina Schock (drums), Jane Wiedlin (guitar) and Kathy Valentine (bass) -- will start off the "Ladies Gone Wild" trek with a May 29 performance in Hershey, PA. The 23-date road trip spans two months, mixing U.S. and Canadian gigs before the Aug. 28 conclusion in Austin, TX. The Go-Go's rose to fame in 1981 with the release of "Beauty and the Beat," which includes the chart-topping hits "Our Lips Are Sealed" and "We Got the Beat."
A deluxe edition of the 30-year-old album will hit shelves May 17, according to a press release. The collection will feature a bonus disc with previously unreleased music from a 1981 live set.
Last summer, the Go-Go's called off their scheduled farewell tour due to Wiedlin's knee surgery. Since that time, the band has "decided they were not quite ready to hang up their instruments," according to a press release.
