Bob Seger confirms initial tour dates
UPDATED: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band -- who recently announced plans to embark on a tour this year, but hadn't announced specifics -- have begun to reveal some dates and places.
Seven shows have been announced so far, mostly near Seger's home base of Detroit. Tickets for the tour's Cleveland stop went on sale Friday morning (2/11), while Saturday (2/12) onsales are planned for Saginaw, MI; Toledo, OH (two shows); and Grand Rapids, MI. Onsales for shows in Buffalo, NY, and Cincinnati, OH, are scheduled to get underway Feb. 19, according to Seger's website.
A statement from Seger's label said that the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's set list will include a mix of classics "like 'Night Moves' and 'Old Time Rock & Roll' alongside a preview of new songs from his forthcoming as yet untitled new release."
The outing, currently set to kick off March 26 in Toledo, marks Seger's first tour in five years. No release date for the new album has been confirmed.
Seger, 65, hasn't issued an album of newly recorded material since "Face the Promise," which was released in conjunction with his 2006-2007 tour -- Seger's most recent road trip. In 2009, he dropped the compilation "Early Seger Vol. 1, which combines a mix of remastered and unreleased tracks that Seger curated himself.
