Phish ends tour with a two-day party
An estimated 70,000 fans braved washed-out campgrounds and knee-deep mud to witness the return of Phish to the former Loring Air Force base in Limestone, Maine over the weekend. About 2 a.m. Sunday, the band launched into a surprise 4th set of the festival, performing atop the air traffic control tower as gymnasts in rappelling gear dangled, bounced and danced on the sides of the tower.

Dwight Yoakam heads into cover territory again
Dwight Yoakam will release his second CD of cover songs Sept. 23rd. Songs on the set include the Grateful Dead’s “Truckin’,” “Mystery Train,” and “T For Texas.” A U.S. tour, in progress since June, will continue through October 10th.
David Bowie announces club show as prelude to U.S. tour
Announced as a fan-club-only warmup show, David Bowie’s official site on Monday said that Bowie will perform at The Chance nightclub in Poughkeepsie, NY on August 19th. Tickets for the event were set to go on sale through www.davidbowie.com Monday at 5 p.m. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Bowie owns land in the area.

White Stripes canceled shows set for November
Several White Stripes concert dates postponed due to singer Jack White’s finger injury are being re-routed as a new U.S. tour run in Novermber, following the band’s Japanese tour. The band’s official site has posted video of the surgery done to repair White’s finger.

A new revenue stream for touring acts is being tested by media giant Clear Channel Entertainment in which live CD’s are pulled from the soundboard mix, instantly duplicated and made available as patrons exit the concert.
According to a story in the Boston Globe, The Allman Brother Band will be the first to sell live CD’s using the new system. Jam-band moe. is reportedly next in line to test and deploy the CD sales system. Revenue from the live CD’s will be split evenly between the band and the promoter, according to the Globe story.
