Rod Stewart’s first five solo albums and several rare tracks have been collected in a three-disc package titled “Reason to Believe: The Complete Mercury Studio Recordings,” scheduled to hit stores on Nov. 19.
The set includes digitally remastered versions of Stewart’s “The Rod Stewart Album” ("An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down” in the U.K.), “Gasoline Alley,” “Every Picture Tells a Story,” “Never a Dull Moment” and “Smiler” albums, which were released from 1969 through 1974.
Among the other tracks on the compilation are five selections from 1995’s import-only “Handbags & Gladrags” compilation, as well as Stewart’s cover of The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” (which appears on his 1973 best-of album, “Sing It Again Rod").
According to Universal Records, the package also includes a 24-page booklet containing photos, an essay and detailed recording information.
