Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers return to the road in late October to back “The Last DJ,” an album that’s due in stores on Oct. 8.
Prior to the tour, Petty and his band will perform the new album in its entirety at an Oct. 15 concert at Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. The show will videotaped and transmitted live via satellite to 38 movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada.
Most tickets for the movie-theater simulcasts will be given away through radio stations in each city, though a limited number of tickets will be sold. More details are available at Petty’s official website.
The tour opens on Oct. 27 in Santa Barbara, Calif., and is scheduled to run through mid-December. Jackson Browne, who also opened on Petty’s summer tour, will support.
