Aerosmith, Britney, Mary J. Blige perform at NFL event

Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Aretha Franklin and others have signed on to perform at The National Mall in Washington, DC, on Sept. 4 as part of “NFL Kickoff Live 2003.”

The event--which ABC will air live from 8-9 p.m. ET--leads up to that night’s season-opening match-up between the Washington Redskins and New York Jets.Spears reportedly plans to perform a couple of new songs at the show.

Sick Mick stops Stones from rolling into Spain

The Rolling Stones canceled their planned Tuesday night (8/5) performance in Benidorm, Spain, after frontman Mick Jagger fell ill, according to an announcement that the group released on Monday (8/4).

The group plans to announce within 72 hours whether the show will be rescheduled. Local promoters are eyeing Sept. 19 as a possible make-up date.

The Stones’ “Licks” world tour is scheduled to resume on Friday (8/8) in Germany.

Rappers Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G--who more than 10 years ago dubbed themselves 213 (the Long Beach area code)--are recording with the Neptunes, and plan to issue their first album in November.

Rhino to release new Grateful Dead best of set

Rhino Records plans to release on Sept. 16 a new compilation titled “The Very Best of the Grateful Dead.” The collection will feature songs that the band released on Warner Bros., Arista and its own Grateful Dead Records label.
