Lady Gaga cancels tour following injury

Lady Gaga has been forced to pull the plug on her "Born This Way Ball" tour following a stage injury that has rendered the singer nearly immobile.

The first word of trouble came on Tuesday (2/12) with a post to her Facebook page following a trio of Canadian shows.

"There's an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Way Ball," she wrote. "Im so sorry. I barely know what to say. I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened. I've been praying it would heal. I hid it from my staff, I didn't want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last nights performance I could not walk and still can't."

Initially, four upcoming shows were anticipated to be affected, but following additional consultations with her doctors, the situation revealed itself to be more serious.

On Wednesday, an update was posted, linking off to an official Live Nation statement that read in part, "After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal."

The cancellation affects roughly the eastern portion of North America. The tour began on the west coast and was about to push through the midwest with a pair of Chicago shows on Wednesday and Thursday.

Refunds for all affected shows are available at the point of purchase.
