New Taylor Swift album due in October
Taylor Swift announced today via an internet video chat that she'll be releasing her third album on Oct. 25.
"The album is called "Speak Now," and that pertains to the album as a concept and as an entire theme of the record more than I can even tell you," she said, adding that she's been working on the set for the last two years.
She said the album's first single, "Mine," -- which "is about my tendency to run away from love" -- will hit radio in mid-August. And while she didn't offer specifics, she said a lengthy tour will "most likely" follow the album's release.
The country-pop singer/songwriter set the bar high with her sophomore album, 2008's "Fearless," which spent 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart.
Swift, who worked with co-writers on her previous albums, said she wrote all of the songs on the forthcoming release herself, and co-produced the set with "Fearless" producer Nathan Chapman.
Swift said that "Sparks Fly," a previously unreleased song she played occasionally on her most recent tour, made the cut for the new album.
