In Pictures: Wanda Jackson in New York City
Wanda Jackson, the undisputed queen of rockabilly, is celebrating the release of her brand new album, "The Party Ain't Over," with a brief tour. She kicked things off Jan. 15 on very familiar turf, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
The new record's producer, Jack White (The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather), joined Jackson to play guitar for five shows, including a January appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman." As of last month, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is backed on stage by the The Lustre Kings. Chicago fans are next in line to catch the tour March 22 at Lincoln Hall. From there, she heads to Louisville, KY, for a March 23 show at Headliner's Music Hall.
SoundSpike photographer Antonio Marino Jr. caught up with Jackson and The Lustre Kings last week (2/24) at The Bowery Ballroom in New York City, and here are some highlights.
