March 15, 2011 - The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, held Monday night (3/14) at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City, switched it up a bit this year. December 15, 2010 - The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame officially announced the class of 2011 inductees Wednesday (12/15) -- Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Dr. John and Darlene Love -- adding Leon Russell in the sideman category and Specialty Records' Art Rupe and Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman under the heading of non-performers.
September 28, 2010 - The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its list of 15 nominees for induction, reaching back to the 1950s for Chuck Willis and the mid-1980s for Bon Jovi and the Beastie Boys. To be eligible, an artist's recording debuts had to occur in 1985 or earlier.
October 15, 2009 - If Jack Kerouac was alive today, he might be found hanging out with Tom Waits. The Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, composer and actor seems to channel the vibe of the beat era--in fact he even recorded the song "On the Road" with lyrics taken from Kerouac's novel, for his 2006 set "Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards."
October 13, 2009 - Tom Waits plans to release a collection of live tracks recorded during his 2008 sold-out US and European tour on Nov. 24. The two-disc album, "Glitter and Doom Live," contains 17 cuts recorded during 10 different tour stops in cities including Birmingham, Edinburgh, Atlanta, Paris, Milan, Jacksonville and Dublin, according to a press release.
