March 22, 2011 - Several people were injured at South by Southwest when a camera boom fell into the crowd at a March 18 OMD showcase at Stubb's in Austin, TX. Approximately 10 people were injured, but only four concertgoers were taken by ambulance to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries, according to published reports.
March 22, 2011 - Mississippi native Charlie Mars took part in his state's SXSW showcase Saturday night (3/19), giving the packed 18th floor of the Hilton Garden Inn a "VH1 Storytellers"-style solo performance.
March 21, 2011 - The musical layout for Day Four of SXSW 2011 featured, among other things, the big surprise reveal of the Perez Hilton Party headliner at the Moody Theater: Dirty Vegas. The Hilton event also featured Liz Phair and The Pretty Reckless, and it kicked off in grand celebrity style complete with a red carpet and paparazzi. The absolute antithesis in style was the Rachel Ray Feedback party across town at Stubb's. It showcased Wanda Jackson and Bob Schneider, among others, and with a 10 a.m. start time it clearly catered to hardcore down-to-earth folks.
March 19, 2011 - Wild Flag -- the new quartet featuring former Sleater-Kinney members Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss, along with Mary Timony (Helium) and Rebecca Cole (The Minders) -- doesn't have an album yet, but the fans packing this sweaty club Friday night (3/18) didn't seem to mind.
