"The Awakening" is more than the title of English singer/songwriter James Morrison's latest album. It's the way he felt while recording his most critically acclaimed album of his three-album career.
English singer/songwriter James Morrison will take on his first headlining trek through the U.S. this spring as he continues supporting his third album, "The Awakening." Recording the follow up to a critically acclaimed debut wasn't just stressful for English singer/songwriter James Morrison; it was downright "torture."

In James Morrison's stellar song "Under the Influence," the opening track of his debut "Undiscovered," he sings, "Once you've had a taste of it, there's no going back." The same could be said for the album. "Soulful" and "expressive" are two words often used to describe Briton James Morrison's style. Atlantic Records producer and co-founder Jerry Wexler, in Morrison's bio, said Morrison has a voice "with its own thumbprint. Hear it once and you'll forever recognize it." (Perhaps that's because, as a baby, Morrison had whooping cough, which may have scarred his vocal chords.) Coming from a poverty-stricken background, Morrison has turned his life around with his freshman release, "Undiscovered." It debuted at No. 1 on the UK charts and sold more than one million copies worldwide. He is set to tackle US shores when his album is sent to stores March 13. --Christina Fuoco-Karasinski
