Apple will now pay labels for the rights to stream their music as it offers a free, 90-day trial for its new product. Apple officials announced the change after pop-country darling Taylor Swift penned a letter to the technology company, writing that the move to not pay artists was "disappointing."
British pop-metal veterans Def Leppard are about three weeks into the U.S. leg of their "Mirrorball" tour. Stateside, the trek -- which opened last month at the U.K.'s Downlad Festival -- is set to run through mid September.
In more than three decades as a band, Def Leppard has been never had a full year's break from the cycle of performing and writing music, according to California-based lead guitarist Phil Collen. So during recent downtime, the English rock band thought it would be ideal to focus on the production of its first live CD, "Mirrorball," which was released in Walmart and Sam's Club stores last week.
