February 9, 2009 - As their name implies, Eagles of Death Metal are a band with a sense of humor. Formed in 1998 by founding members Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, the band has a moniker that suggests a cross between death metal and The Eagles. Homme has described their sound, tongue firmly in cheek, as "bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals."
