Saxophonist Michael Brecker, keyboardist Herbie Hancock and trumpeter Roy Hargrove will embark on a 28-city North American tour in September to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the births of jazz legends John Coltrane and Miles Davis.

AC/DC shines in RIAA's January certifications

AC/DC, Garth Brooks, Shaggy and Dido each picked up multi-platinum awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in January, while Rage Against the Machine, Xzibit, Linkin Park and Jaci Velasquez garnered single-platinum honors. The late John Coltrane, meanwhile, scored his first-ever gold award.

Seven John Coltrane Albums Reissued This Month

John Coltrane aficionados are in for a treat this month. Verve Records' Impulse imprint is reissuing five classic Coltrane albums and Rhino Records is reissuing two.

Miles Davis-John Coltrane Box Set Due in April

"The Complete Miles Davis Featuring John Coltrane," the long-delayed, six-CD set, is due from Columbia/Legacy on April 11. The title of "complete" should be qualified, however--the box contains three complete Columbia albums, but not the five earlier albums that group recorded for Prestige Records.
