September 21, 2001 - AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--In Backstreet Boys' Thursday (9/21) show at Palace of Auburn Hills, the group paid tribute to Daniel John Lee, their supervising carpenter who died when his plane crashed into the World Trade Center, with songs and by flashing a photo of Lee during "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely." In Lee's honor, Backstreet Boys sang "God Bless America."
June 27, 2001 - Eminem’s pet-project D12 will see its first album, “Devil’s Night,” debut at the top of the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart after selling almost 372,000 copies during its first week out, according to industry sources. “Devil’s Night” leads a pack of Top 10 debuts that also includes the latest from Luther Vandross, Sisqo, Stone Temple Pilots and 311.
December 6, 2000 - Sisqo was the big winner at Tuesday night’s (12/5) 2000 Billboard Music Awards ceremony in Las Vegas, where the “Thong Song” creator won awards in six categories, according to Billboard. Other acts that scored multiple awards included Destiny’s Child, Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, ‘NSync, Britney Spears and 3 Doors Down, but all trailed behind the Dru Hill singer. The awards were based on the compilation of Billboard’s December 1999-December 2000 chart data, which measures record sales and radio airplay, according to Billboard.
November 13, 2000 - Faith Hill, a country singer who has been embraced by the pop mainstream, picked up four American Music Awards nominations on Monday (11/13) to lead this year's field of nominees. Latin crossover star Marc Anthony and rockers Creed garnered three nominations apiece.
March 29, 2000 - Contemporary soul singer Sisqo has the No. 5 album in the Billboard 200 chart this week, with the double-platinum album "Unleash the Dragon" (Def Soul) selling almost 158,000 copies, according to his label.
