June 20, 2011 - America has seen its share of festival concerts from Woodstock to Farm Aid, from California Jam to Bonnaroo, but by many accounts the original shows that comprised the Clearwater Festival predate them all. In 1966, the legendary folk singer, organized labor advocate and environmental steward Pete Seeger and some of his musician friends of the day traveled throughout New York's Hudson River Valley playing music and passing around Seeger's beat up old banjo to collect donations to build a sloop.

May 4, 2009 - It wasn't just the near sold-out crowd of 18,000-plus who came to pay tribute to the music, environmental stewardship or the politics of a lanky, lucid banjo player by the name of Pete Seeger. Many of the dozens of performers who took the stage at Madison Square Garden Sunday (5/3) to honor Seeger on his 90th birthday also were moved in some way by this man who is regarded by many as something of an American treasure.
