April 27, 2001 - Edward Van Halen issued a statement on Thursday night (4/26) confirming that he has cancer. The news comes 11 months after the legendary guitarist first said that he was participating in a clinical trial to prevent cancer at a renowned cancer hospital in Houston; hospital spokespeople said at that time that Van Halen did not have the disease.
May 30, 2000 - update: The M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston said on Tuesday (5/30) that, contrary to widespread rumors, guitarist Eddie Van Halen does not have cancer.
November 14, 1999 - David Lee Roth received 11 threatening email messages while he and his DLR Band were in Lubbock, Texas, to perform last Tuesday (11/9), according to a report his bodyguard filed with Lubbock police. The concert went on as scheduled, and no other dates have been affected.
