Formed by Washington, DC, natives in the year 2000, The Walkmen are the co-creation of players from two groups: Jonathan Fire*Eater (Paul Maroon, Walter Martin and Matt Barrick) and The Recoys (Peter Bauer and Hamilton Leithauser). Not only are The Walkmen inspired by such groups as The Pogues, The Velvet Underground, Joy Division and Pixies, they strive to achieve their sound by making a point of playing vintage instruments and recording in a converted industrial space, a studio dubbed Marcata Recording in Harlem. The Walkmen are currently on a mini tour in support of their new album "You & Me," and are scheduled to play two more shows on the itinerary.
