Actor and hip-hop star Mos Def will hit the road next month in support of his latest studio album, "The Ecstatic," which surfaced in June.

"The E.N.D.," the latest release from hip-pop outfit Black Eyed Peas, moved just over 300,000 copies during its first week in stores, enough to earn the set a No. 1 debut on the US album chart.

Rock the Bells launches charity auction

A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Mos Def, De La Soul and The Pharcyde are among the artists donating memorabilia to the first Rock the Bells online charity auction, scheduled for Dec. 1-15. Proceeds from the auction, which will feature items from the artists who participated in the 2008 RTB International Festival Series tour, will be donated to the American Diabetes Association, according to a press release.

Talib Kweli's musical career made its first inroads through his collaborations with DJ Hi-Tek in 1997 and Mos Def in 1998. By 2004, he was booked to support the Beastie Boys on tour, and appearances on MTV's "Wild 'N Out" and Comedy Central's "Chappelle's Show" followed.

Arrest warrant issued for Mos Def

A Las Vegas court has issued an arrest warrant for Mos Def, who is facing robbery and malicious destruction of private property charges that stem from an alleged altercation with a photographer at an apparel convention in August, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Union Labor Day fest planned during Republican National Convention

Tom Morello, Steve Earle, Mos Def and Allison Moorer will perform at the "Take Back Labor Day Festival" Sept. 1 at Harriet Island Regional Park in St. Paul, MN. Lupe Fiasco, Billy Bragg and Atmosphere also will perform at the show, which is being sponsored by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
