Truck America festival pulls in Wye Oak, Hold Steady, Low Anthem

The Hold Steady, Okkervil River, The Felice Brothers and Ra Ra Riot will play the Truck America music and camping festival, Sept. 9-11 at Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY, according to a press release. The second edition of Truck America also will feature Wye Oak, Vetiver, Real Estate, Fruit Bats, The Low Anthem, Richard Buckner, Alberta Cross and Au Revoir Simone among the artists performing during the three-day event.

SXSW Performer: Vetiver (San Francisco, CA)

San Francisco-based folkies Vetiver are headed by singer/songwriter Andy Cabic, and often joined by freak-folker supremo Devendra Banhart, as well as a varied cast of others that can include drummers, bassists, violinists and aromatherapists. Not entirely unexpected, given Cabic's and Banhart's chops, the group makes charming, expressive music that sounds great when it sits in the background, but also doesn't lose its shape or cohesion when viewed up close. The group's fourth album (and first under its new Sub Pop contract), "Tight Knit," surfaced in late February.

The Shins return to the road for fall tour

After polishing off a couple of big festivals in September, The Shins return to the headlining circuit this fall as the band continues to support its latest studio set, "Wincing the Night Away."
