March 10, 2005 - The author of three books of poetry, Saul Williams is the proverbial career artist. Besides his literary projects, Williams has starred in the UPN sitcom "Girlfriends" and the Kevin Spacey picture "K-Pax." He now is hoping to collect more fans while pushing his self-titled album at SXSW. "Saul Williams," which features guest appearances by System of a Down's Serj Tankian and ex-Rage Against the Machine vocalist Zack de la Rocha, runs the gamut of beat poetry, alternative rock, and straight ahead hip-hop. "I find that, musically, I'm all over the place," Williams said. "It's completely a reflection of the stuff I'm listening to: the Kinks, Lee Stratch Perry, The Game, Cam'ron, Jadakiss. I'm really into just expression and the power and the beauty of it." --Christina FuocoSoundSpike Interview: Saul Williams (2005)
