Concert Review: ACL Festival in Austin, Day 1

The opening day of the 10th annual Austin City Limits Festival went off without a hitch, pulling in a sold-out crowd of 65,000 as well as a few minutes of much needed rain. The first day of the three-day weekend brought relief via mostly overcast skies, as well as some notable names, including Cold War Kids, Bright Eyes, Santigold, Sara Bareilles, Mavis Staples, Big Boi and Ray LaMontagne, among others. The evening's headliners -- Coldplay and Kanye West -- got the most buzz throughout the day, as many felt torn between Day 1's two closing choices. Concert: Outside Lands in San Francisco, Day 1

A capacity crowd of 60,000 ventured onto a huge expanse of Golden Gate Park for the opening day of San Francisco's fourth Outside Lands gathering, taking in an eclectic mix of music, food and sights. The Free Press Summer Fest took place in Houston on June 4 and 5, two of the hottest days of the year to date in the region. The third installment of the event featured such names as Ween, Weezer, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Cut Copy, Yeasayer, Big Boi, Beirut and Fucked Up, who shared the bill with several local bands. L.A.-area students were treated to an exclusive Big Boi show at the Wiltern Theatre last week (12/9). The Georgia-based rapper and Outkast MC headlined the kick-off of the College Battle of the Bands tour, 'Textbooks and Tickets,' presented by <a href='www.chegg.com' target='new'>Chegg</a>, the popular textbook rental outfit. L.A.-area students were treated to an exclusive Big Boi show at the Wiltern Theatre last week (12/9).
