Blonde Redhead

Album Review: Blonde Redhead, "23" (4AD)

Having largely abandoned the aggressive noise it cut its musical teeth on, the trio of Kazu Makino and Simone and Amadeo Pace seems to have found the dividing line between somnolence and unrest. SXSW Performer: Blonde Redhead (New York, NY)

It's been awhile since the eclectic trio known as Blonde Redhead released an album; it hasn't happened since 2004's "Misery is a Butterfly." But now, waify singer Kazu Makino and Italian twins/bandmates Simone and Amedeo Pace are preparing for the April 10th drop of their seventh studio album, "23." Their sound is tough to pinpoint, but with Makino's delicate vocals bordering on ghostly, acting as a calm veil of texture over faster-paced melodies, they draw in fans of artsy, sophisticated, ambient rock. --Tara Hall

CD Review: Blonde Redhead, "Misery is a Butterfly"

Comprised of Kazu Makino--a Japanese woman--and Amedeo and Simone Pace, two Italian-born, identical-twin brothers, New York-based Blonde Redhead cuts a distinctive image in a live setting.
