Blues and R&B singer Koko Taylor, an iconic and enduring figure in Chicago's legendary blues scene, has died at the age of 80.

Koko Taylor recently underwent surgery in Chicago to correct gastrointestinal bleeding, according to a press release. The May 19 operation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital was successful and doctors anticipate a full recovery for the 80-year-old "Queen of the Blues."
