San Francisco's Fourth Annual Treasure Island Music Festival took place over the weekend (10/16-17), and gave fans a clear choice between Day One's electronica and hip-hop-style music and Day Two's rock and indie-leaning artists. 
Monsters of Folk delivered a strong set at ACL yesterday (10/9) despite less than ideal placement. As a result of the fact that their performance space at the Austin Ventures stage sat directly between the two main stages, AMD and Budweiser, the musicians had to contend with an impromptu battle of the bands in order to be heard over Gogol Bordello and LCD Soundsystem.
One of the smartest bookings of the summer turned into a commercial and artistic smash at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday (7/18). A triple bill of boy-girl groups, with each act being successively more dramatic and forceful in their performance, was greeted with a full house of 17,000 patrons, and proved that each of the acts is more than a precious one-trick pony.
