Liam Finn headlines North America

Experimental-pop artist Liam Finn will return to North America next month to support Eddie Vedder's East Coast run before launching his first headlining trek of the US and Canada as a solo artist.

SXSW Performer: Liam Finn (Auckland, New Zealand)

The son of Split Enz/Crowded House's Neil Finn, Liam Finn takes the DIY ethic to new levels. The 23-year-old writes, produces and engineers his own music. He even shot his own publicity photos and album artwork. And, for his debut album, "I'll Be Lightning," he played almost every instrument. According to his publicist, Finn performs with a back-up singer and autoharp player, and features "looping guitar parts, bass lines, and even psychedelic Theremin." The lo-fi "Second Chance" is the highlight of "I'll Be Lightning," which was recorded with The Who's onetime mixing deck.

Liam Finn Continues Tour

Liam Finn plans to go forward with the remainder his tour dates despite the cancellation of tour mates Pela, according to a press release. Pela was forced to drop out of the tour due to a hand injury suffered by their lead singer/guitarist. In addition to completing the West Coast leg of the tour, Finn will perform at South by Southwest later this month. In April, Finn hits the road again supporting Eddie Vedder's solo tour.
