October 19, 2009 - San Francisco's 3rd annual Treasure Island Music Festival again featured a bounty of artists. The thoughtfully designed two-day schedule offered fans a clear choice of either electronic-based, DJ-oriented talent, or rock and roll of a more traditional bent.
October 5, 2009 - In keeping with Austin City Limits Festival tradition, fans who turned up at the beginning of Day 1 entered Zilker Park in Austin, TX, to the theme of Star Wars.
July 13, 2009 - Alt-rockers Grizzly Bear will sandwich a North American leg this fall between a pair of European treks as they continue to support this spring's "Veckatimest."
June 24, 2009 - When Newsweek spoke to Trent Reznor this week about putting Nine Inch Nails on hiatus, the magazine also asked him what music he's currently listening to. He named the psych-folk group Grizzly Bear. "There's a beauty and a musicality there that I wish would have been in vogue in the late '80s, when I was forming bands," Reznor was quoted as saying. "The aesthetic I was tuned into was a more dumbed-down kind of thing."
June 13, 2009 - The crowds grew substantially for Day 2 of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on Friday (6/12.) Although scattered thunderstorms were in the forecast, the day, other than a five-minute evening shower, reportedly was rain-free.
March 31, 2009 - Indie-pop quartet Grizzly Bear plans to head out on the road in May to begin supporting the band's forthcoming studio album, "Veckatimest."
February 27, 2009 - Brooklyn's Grizzly Bear evolved from a solo project by singer/guitarist Ed Droste into a full-fledged group effort, one that sketches delicate songs out of baroque tools, offering a chamber-pop sensibility transfused with a skewed sense of time and rhythm. On a good day, the band sounds like The Moody Blues suddenly discovering a cache of long lost Simon and Garfunkel tunes, which is much less horrible than you would think. Band member Ed Drossen also plays in Department of Eagles, which does a similar sort of trick. Latest album "Veckatimest" is due in late May from Warp Records.
