Since 1992, Big Day Out has compelled Australians to mark their calendars for the pivotal music event of their Southern Hemisphere summer. This year, the touring festival kicked off Jan. 21 in neighboring Auckland, New Zealand.
Sept. 14 is Super Tuesday for the music industry, the day prior to the fourth quarter that overflows with high-profile releases. So many, in fact, it's possible next week's Nielsen Soundscan Top 10 will have six or seven rookie titles.
Grinderman -- Nick Cave's relatively new band with Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos -- will start a three-week tour on Nov. 13 at the House of Blues in Cambridge, MA.
