October 11, 2010 - If ACL were to take on the parallels of a solid workout (and to many, including this writer, it did), Sunday evening's offerings at the eastern end of Zilker Park could aptly be described as a cool-down. But despite the allure inherent in a mellow night of music, Norah Jones' set was perhaps a little too low key.
October 5, 2009 - Texan Robert Earl Keen writes songs for barren front porches or crowded barrooms, songs meant for careful introspection and tunes that improve when everyone sings along. In a few instances--"The Road Goes on Forever," for example--celebration and observation are synchronized and the party's chronicler becomes the man in charge of getting the shebang started. As he starts yet another lengthy tour, Keen is well aware that the better the party, the better the show.
