February 27, 2009 - Jesse F Keeler of Toronto electronic duo MSTRKRFT has described "Fist of God," the performer's latest studio effort with musical partner Al-P, as "throwing a million hatchets into the audience," a feeling he probably knows well, since live shows with his former act, guitar/synth/drum duo Death From Above 1979, tended to be exhausting, emotionally draining tugs of war between the band and the audience, the band members themselves, and the instruments being pulverized by said performers. Keeler's latest project, MSTRKRFT, certainly offers no compromises on that count, vaulting lobbies of hard-edged techno-pop onto the dance floor, where rhythmically challenged groups of hipster youth fight it out amongst themselves for the right to catch the hatchet.
