As the sons of legendary music producer Jim Dickinson, Luther and Cody Dickinson were almost preordained to be musicians. Growing up exposed to the sounds of Mississippi Fred McDowell and R.L. Burnside, the brothers--along with Chris Chew--were inspired to form a band in 1996. Named for the region they call home, North Mississippi Allstars were born.

Elvis Costello Tapped For Whistler Music Festival

Elvis Costello and The Imposters will headline the inaugural Whistler Music Festival, scheduled July 19-20 in Whistler, British Columbia. Other artists joining Costello for the two-day event include The Roots, Broken Social Scene, Medeski Martin & Wood, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Bedouin Soundclash and Serena Ryder. Additional marquee artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, according to a press release.
