Butthole Surfers regroup for road trip

The Butthole Surfers have reunited their '80s-era lineup--Gibby Haynes, Paul Leary, Jeff Pinkus, King Coffey and Teresa Taylor--for a September/October tour that will culminate in a pair of Halloween shows in Texas that will also feature Peaches.

Pop Montreal line-up begins to surface

Butthole Surfers, Dinosaur Jr. and Diamanda Galas are among the acts confirmed for this year's Pop Montreal International Music Festival, according to a press release. Other confirmed acts for the fest, which runs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4, include Fever Ray, Lou Barlow + The Missingmen, Os Mutantes, Roxanne Shante, Faust and Buffy Sainte-Marie.

In his journal, Kurt Cobain named " Butthole Surfers" as one of his Top 10 albums of all time. The Texas band's self-titled debut was released in 1983 on Alternative Tentacles Records, after the group was discovered by the label's head honcho, ex-Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra.
