January 27, 2009 - In 1995, hip-hop/spoken word artist Saul Williams started delivering his insights and political views in his hometown of New York City. The following year, he won the title of Nuyorican Poets Cafe's Grand Slam Champion, and the event was captured in the award winning documentary film "Slam," featuring Williams.
March 25, 2003 - R.E.M. and ex-Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha are the latest artists to express their opposition to the United States' Iraq policy by posting new anti-war songs on the Internet. This month has also seen the Internet release of anti-war songs by the Beastie Boys and John Mellencamp.
