The following year, he won the title of Nuyorican Poets Cafe's Grand Slam Champion, and the event was captured in the award winning documentary film "Slam," featuring Williams.

Major acts voice opposition to war in new songs

R.E.M. and ex-Rage Against the Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha are the latest artists to express their opposition to the United States' Iraq policy by posting new anti-war songs on the Internet. This month has also seen the Internet release of anti-war songs by the Beastie Boys and John Mellencamp.
